It has been sometime since I sat in a leader’s chair here at Porters Restoration. For the past 5 years I have been primarily spending my time in many types of ministry work, including local church and denominational roles. I have recently been asked to join the board of Providence Life Services, a large Illinois non-profit whose focus is for providing for the care of the elderly by managing several retirement, assisted care and nursing facilities. Since 2005, I have founded and become the executive director of TheChristainLeader.org, an Indiana non-profit organization dedicated to the development of leaders, in and outside the church. I have traveled parts of the US and five times to West Africa presenting and teaching leadership to pastors and business leaders.
For 35 years, it has been my desire to develop as a good business leader. While early on my motive was self serving, it became evident that building a business was as much about building lives within the company as it was in building the bank balance. While good company vision is important, over time it will be well trained, happy employees that will help a company outperform the competition. That was my underlying belief before and it still is today. My partners in Porters Restoration have invited me back to help them do just that. I will help cast vision, help set realistic targets, and inspire people to be the best they can be.
In this old but revised role I find a certain satisfaction that will help quench that entrepreneurial piece of me that does not seem to want to go away. This, along with my current responsibilities at TheChristianLeader.org, will help me do what I am called to do.
Thanks for those who have already welcomed me back into your world. I look forward to making a difference in the restoration industry.
